Sanctions scrutiny linked to mysterious tanker U-turn

Lloyd's List

A tanker suspected of carrying Iranian crude oil performed an abrupt U-turn off Croatia this week jonly hours after pressure group UANI issued a public. A PANAMA-Flagged tanker carrying what is suspected to be Iranian crude oil was due call at the Croatian port of Rijeka on May 4, but it didn’t. Instead, as it approached the port Arc 1 (IMO: 9268112) abruptly reversed course. The veteran vessel, which had loaded its cargo over a month previously via a series of two separate ship-to- ship transfers off Malaysia, then proceeded to sail back down the western Greek coast towards North Africa, changing its destination to “For Orders” as the only hint of what lay behind its amended voyage plans.
