"Samkang M&T (100090) has signed a 27 billion won (US$17.50 million) MOU with Iranian shipbuilder ISOICO to install a 1000-ton crane, it said on July 20.  The deal amounts to 14.04 percent of the firm’s latest total sales. The contract will expire March 18, 2018." (July 20, 2016).

Shipbuilders vying to land more projects amid a global drought in demand are eyeing countries in the Middle East, attracted by eased sanctions against Iran and signs of international oil price recoveries... Since Hyundai Heavy Industries signed a $700 million order to build 10 vessels for Iran’s state-owned Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines last week, expectations are growing for other shipbuilders to ink new deals as well. Currently, Iran owns 175 ships. Among them, 43 are more than 20 years old and 110 are more than 10 years old, according to shipping research company Clarksons. Replacement orders for ships older than 20 years alone could result in orders of container and bulk carriers worth more than a trillion won... In September, shipbuilder Samkang M&T inked a $398.8 million deal with Iran’s state-run shipyard Iran Shipbuilding & Offshore Industries Complex. The amount is not as big, but it equals roughly two years of revenue. Samkang will supply a 1,000 ton crane and build facilities for the shipyard. "Poland’s Ciech Group, one of the leaders on the European chemical industry, has halted trade with Iran after the country’s top diplomat called on the EU to show “great empathy” towards US motives in reimposing sanctions on Tehran." (5/29/2018).

In May 2017, Ciech revealed that “[i]n Q1 2017, Ciech Sarzyna received registration of a new product in Poland (Chwastox Complex) and registration of the existing plant protection chemicals in Iran, Azerbaijan, and Spain.”  (Ciech Group, “Ciech Group: Solid financial results in Q1 2017,” 17/05/2017).

"Iran and Poland held negotiations in Tehran over launching a joint shipping line for transport of crude oil, petrochemical products as well as liquefied gas. A fresh round of talks was conducted in Tehran between National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) and Poland’s Ciech Trading S.A. to establish a joint company to transport petrochemicals and liquefied gas in addition to development of bunkering industry. Tomasz Grzela, Managing Director of Ciech Trading S.A., said at the meeting that his company eyes expansion of ties with NITC in the post-JCPOA era; “accordingly, we are eager to begin joint investment in a wide variety of fields like bunkering as well as carrying of petrochemical products and liquefied natural gas (LNG).” The Polish official asserted that a joint firm will be formed by NITC and Ciech Trading S.A. in order to bolster relations." "Managing Director of the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) Sirus Kian Ersi says the NITC welcomes expansion of relations with Greek companies. "NITC welcomes expansion of relations with Greek companies," Ersi made the remark in a meeting with Greek Ambassador to Tehran Georgios Ayfantis in Tehran on Saturday. He said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), already signed with Greek George Moundreas & Co. is under investigation to secure maximum interests of the two sides." Since when an MoU has been signed between the NITC and George Moundreas & Co., many sessions have been held and the two sides have become acquainted with each other's capability and activity, trying to find executive mechanisms for mutual cooperation and attaining mutual interests."
