UANI Statement On Release Of American Hostage Michael White

(New York, N.Y.) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman Senator Joseph I. Lieberman and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following joint statement today after the announced release of Iranian-held, American hostage and distinguished U.S. Navy veteran Michael White.

“UANI is grateful that Michael White is returning home safely after being unjustly held hostage by the Iranian regime for nearly two years on unspecified charges. Even as we look forward to welcoming Michael back to the United States, foreign citizens remain in Iranian captivity in violation of international norms and laws, and the family of Robert Levinson continues to grieve as his body remains within the Islamic Republic.”

“UANI demands that all remaining American and Western hostages be immediately released from Iranian captivity and returned safely to their home countries. The regime’s efforts at extortion and violent aggression must end, and the best way to do that is to impose a severe cost on those responsible.”
