UANI Statement on Hizballah's Terror Attack in Bulgaria, the Role of the Lebanese Financial System in Supporting Iran and Hizballah
New York, NY -United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) CEO, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, issued the following statement Friday regarding the revelation by U.S. officials that Hizballah coordinated this week's terrorist attack in Bulgaria:
We express our condolences to the victims and families of Hizballah's most recent terror attack in Bulgaria. These terror attacks are a stark reminder of the insidious influence of Iran and Hezbollah throughout the world.
No longer can the leaders of Lebanon's banking system, including Central Bank Governor Riad Salamé and Secretary General of the Association of Banks Makram Sader, portray themselves as benign bureaucrats uninvolved in international terrorism. Hizballah and Iran illicitly control the Lebanese banking system, and use it to fund terror attacks such as the one in Bulgaria.
The officials who oversee Lebanon's banks and exchange houses enable Hizballah, and have the blood of Hizballah terror victim on their hands. We call on all responsible governments to fully sanction the Lebanese banking system, and pursue criminal charges against its leadership.
