UANI Launches Petition To Hold Iran Accountable For Crackdown On Protestors, Sponsorship Of Terror

(New York, N.Y.) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) has launched a petition calling on the United States, the European Union, and other G7 countries to hold the Islamic Republic of Iran accountable for its crimes against humanity in its violent crackdown on Iranian protestors and sponsorship of terrorism worldwide. Responsible nations must take stronger diplomatic and economic measures to end Iran's malign activities.

The petition calls upon the U.S. and the E3 (the United Kingdom, France, and Germany) to end negotiations to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and for U.S. allies to withdraw their ambassadors from Tehran and downgrade Iran’s diplomatic presence in their own countries. Furthermore, the United Nations should establish an independent investigative mechanism to hold the regime accountable for its oppression of the Iranian people and remove Iran from the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Further, the international community should deploy measures that will more fully restrict the regime’s sources of revenue, which are used to oppress its own people. Sanctions must be applied against regime leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Ebrahim Raisi, for their human rights abuses and sponsorship of terrorism. Sanctions already on the books, including those on Iran’s fleet of oil tankers, must be strictly enforced.
