UANI Disappointed with New York City's Decision to Award Taxi of Tomorrow Contract to Nissan

New York, NY United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) today expressed its disappointment and concern with New York City's decision to award the "Taxi of Tomorrow" contract to Nissan, which does business in Iran.

Nissan does extensive business in Iran through its relationship with Iranian car manufacturer Pars Khodro. The other two finalists, Ford and Karsan, do not do business in Iran.

Said UANI President, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace:

It is disappointing that New York City chose to reward a company that is doing business in Iran. The other finalists, Ford and Karsan, do not do business in Iran, and they would have been much better choices than Nissan.

Now that Nissan has been awarded the contract, estimated to be worth $1 billion, they must publicly pledge to end their unethical business in Iran and certify that they have pulled out. Nissan should not receive taxpayer dollars and publicly represent New York City while also financially empowering a brutal terrorist-sponsoring regime.
