UANI Condemns Terrorist Attacks Against Israel
(New York, N.Y.) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman Senator Joseph I. Lieberman and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following joint statement today condemning the recent and ongoing terrorist attacks against Israel. More than 1,000 rockets have been fired by Iranian terrorist proxies Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad from Gaza in just the last two days.
“UANI condemns the recent and ongoing terror attacks by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Islamic Republic of Iran for its role as the primary sponsor of these organizations. The indiscriminate targeting of civilians in central and southern Israel, and the cynical endangerment of innocent Palestinians by firing rockets and storing munitions in civilian areas, must cease.
“While the immediate priority is stopping the rocket fire and degrading the terrorist threat, the international community must recognize and take action against Iran for its role in enabling these attacks. Tehran bears responsibility for the loss of innocent life due to its decades-long track record of funding, arming, and training Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
“To protect innocent life – Israeli and Palestinian – the international arms embargo against Iran must be restored. This is the best, most effective way to prevent the future transfer of advanced weaponry and technologies to terrorist organizations.”
