UANI Commends Biden Administration For Forceful Response To Iranian Aggression

(New York, N.Y.) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman Senator Joseph I. Lieberman and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following joint statement today after the U.S. launched airstrikes in Eastern Syria that were targeted against Iran-backed militia groups, including the terrorist organization Kata’ib Hezbollah. These groups are responsible for recent rocket attacks against U.S. and allied forces in Iraq.

"UANI commends the Biden Administration for demonstrating to Iran and its terror proxies that the United States will respond forcefully when American forces or American allies are attacked. This airstrike sends an encouraging message that the United States will not allow nuclear diplomacy with the Islamic Republic to detract from efforts to hold the regime accountable for its non-nuclear destabilization. The regime’s aggression underscores the need to restore America’s bipartisan commitment to confronting the regime, and we urge President Biden to remain firm in his resolve to deter Iran’s malign behavior.”

UANI’s Ideological Expansion, Iraq, and Syria resources detail the long history of Iran’s support for sectarian policies in the region. Iran’s control over these militias enables it to simultaneously wield significant power in local politics; establish a corridor for weapons smuggling from Tehran to Damascus and beyond; and threaten U.S. allies and partners.
