UANI Calls on German-Iranian Chamber of Commerce to Cease Its Inappropriate Operations

New York, NY - United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) CEO, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, issued the following statement regarding the German-Iranian Chamber of Commerce's seminar reportedly held yesterday in Hamburg, called "Iran Sanctions: Practical Implications for German Companies:"

We call on the German-Iranian Chamber of Commerce to cease its operations. The decision to hold this seminar was inappropriate at a time when EU nations--including Germany--are working to economically isolate the Iranian regime. Now is not the time for further economic collaboration between German businesses and Iran. We ask all German business to forgo work in, and collaboration with, Iran.

UANI's "Germany Campaign" highlights the extensive Iran business activities of German businesses, firms and entities. German businesses are bolstering the Iranian economy and expanding Iranian industrial capacity at a time when the international community is working to economically isolate the Iranian regime.

The German-Iranian Chamber's stated mission is to establish new trade links between the two countries, and expand existing cooperation. Unfortunately, Germany has consistently been the number one trade partner of Iran in the EU, and the presence of German companies in Iran undermines the effect of sanctions.

Recently, UANI has called on German firms such as MAN SE, Lufthansa, FEV, and KBA to end their business in Iran.
