UANI Applauds
Treasury for Enforcing
Sanctions on JPMorgan, Calls on Banks to Cease Doing Business in Iran
New
York, NY -
On Friday, United
Against Nuclear Iran (UANI)
applauded the U.S. Treasury Department for fining JPMorgan, following
JPMorgan's violation of sanctions against Iran and other nations.
Treasury's
$88.3 million fine against JPMorgan follows
an illegal loan JPMorgan made involving an Iran Shipping Lines vessel,
in
violation of U.S. sanctions.
Said UANI
President, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace:
Treasury's decision to fine
JPMorgan sends a strong and correct message to banks and other
companies that
do business in Iran. There is no justification for doing business in
Iran, and
companies that do are risking economic harm and damaged reputations.
UANI calls on banks in America
and throughout the world to refrain from investing in Iran until the
Iranian
regime ends its quest for nuclear weapons. By continuing to
economically
isolate Iran, the world can show the regime that changing course is in
its best
interest.
