UANI Announces Addition of Latin America Experts Ambassadors Cresencio Arcos, Roger Noriega, and Otto Reich to Advisory Board
Op-Ed by New Board Members and UANI CEO Featured in Today's South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Highlights Iran's Rising Influence in Latin America
New York, NY - On Monday, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) announced the addition of three new board members: Ambassadors Cresencio S. Arcos, Jr., Roger F. Noriega, and Otto Reich.
The three new board members and UANI's CEO, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, are authors of a new Op-Ed published today by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel: "Iran: A Regional Threat Beyond the Middle East."
In the Op-Ed, the UANI authors write that "the Iranian regime's effort to improve ties with Latin America is working," and call for the U.S. to "wake up to the reality that some of its neighbors in the Western Hemisphere are actively cooperating and facilitating Iran's nuclear ambitions and terrorist activities."
Ambassador Cresencio S. Arcos, Jr. was the first assistant secretary and director of International Affairs at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He also served as U.S. Ambassador to Honduras, and senior deputy assistant secretary of state for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement. He was appointed as a Member of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board by both Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
Ambassador Roger F. Noriega served as Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs under President George W. Bush. Previously, as U.S. Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), Noriega coordinated multilateral diplomacy to bolster trade, fight illicit drugs, and defend democracy.
Ambassador Otto Reich served as Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs from 2001 to 2004, and as President George W. Bush's Special Envoy for Western Hemisphere Initiatives. In 1991 and 1992, Ambassador Reich served as Deputy U.S. Representative to the U.N. Human Rights Commission in Geneva. Reich was U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela from 1986 to 1989.
