Statement by UANI President, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, on Maersk's Business in Iran
New York, NY - United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) today called on Maersk to disclose fully the extent and nature of its business in Iran.UANI President, Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, made the following statement regarding Maersk's business in Iran:
It is disappointing to learn that Maersk has a history of violating Iran and Sudan sanctions. On the same day that Maersk wrote to UANI admitting to business in Iran, but asserting its compliance with Iran sanctions, Maersk consented to a Treasury fine and admitted to past violations of sanctions. Maersk's statements are inconsistent with its behavior. As a company that does billions of dollars worth of business with the U.S. military, Maersk must be transparent about its business in Iran. We call on Maersk to disclose fully the extent and nature of its business in Iran.
