Iran’s Supreme Leader Calls For A ‘Final Solution’ Ahead Of Anti-Israel Quds Day

(New York, N.Y.) – On Friday, the Islamic Republic of Iran will mark Quds Day (“Jerusalem Day”), an annual anti-Zionist day of protest organized by the Iranian regime against Israel. Historically, ceremonies include marches in the streets of Tehran, virulent speeches calling for the annihilation of Israel and oftentimes participation by Iranian proxy militia groups such as the Houthis, Hamas, and Hezbollah. After canceling this year’s in-person rallies due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Iranian officials announced Quds Day ceremonies will be held with modifications, including a speech by Iran’s Supreme Leader. The decision to put on a modified Quds Day underscores that even a pandemic will not deter the Iranian regime from holding its annual display of demonization of Israel.

Ahead of Quds Day, the Office of Iran’s Supreme Leader also released a vile anti-Semitic poster, calling for “the final solution: resistance until referendum.” Such a poster’s use of Nazi-era language from the Holocaust was true to form for the Iranian regime. In the past, it has praised Holocaust deniers.

United Against Nuclear Iran’s (UANI) resource, Iran’s Anti-Israel Ideology: Quds Day, outlines the history of Quds Day in Iran and underscores Iran’s historical propagation of anti-Semitic bigotry and hateful rhetoric towards Israel. A key part of its ideological expansion, Iran has exported Quds Day internationally over the years to more than 80 countries. UANI’s report, How Iran Exports Its Ideology, tracks this global campaign.

Quds Day in 2020 is scheduled for Friday, May 22.
