New York, NY - United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman and former U.S. Senator Joseph I. Lieberman issued the following statement regarding today's missile attack on Saudi Arabia by the Houthis:
"Today's ballistic missile attack on Saudi Arabia by the Houthis provides even more direct evidence of Iran's hidden hand in Yemen. The missile--reportedly a Volcano H-2 which experts say is based off of Iran's Qiam-1--targeted Yamama Palace in Riyadh. Tehran's transfer of advanced missiles to its Yemeni proxy, in violation of UN Resolution 2231, endangers U.S. allies and interests throughout the region and must be stopped. If successful, this attack would have rapidly led to further destabilization and conflict. It only serves to underscore the importance of the president's new national security strategy focused on Iran and the urgent need to build a robust international coalition to crack down on the regime's illicit non-nuclear activities."
