Hezbollah Missile Strike into Israel Escalates Tensions

(New York, N.Y.)Hezbollah carried out a missile attack Sunday against an Israeli military border post. While Israel reported no casualties, the attack is the latest in a series of provocative actions carried out by the group, Iran’s primary proxy.

Hezbollah vowed to attack Israel earlier in the week after the Israeli Air Force carried out an air strike in southern Syria that killed two Hezbollah operatives. Israel said the two were taking part in an operation directed by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani to send attack drones into Israel. Israeli forces in the north had been on high alert in response to Hezbollah’s threats.

In addition, Israel alleged this week that it had identified a precision missile development and enhancement site in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, which Hezbollah has been operating with Iran. Israel claims the project is intended to increase the range and accuracy of Hezbollah’s missiles.

United Against Nuclear Iran’s (UANI) dedicated website, Eye on Hezbollah, charts the Shiite Islamist terrorist group’s evolution from a small radical gang in 1982 to a political and military  “state within a state.” Through reports and analyses, Eye on Hezbollah reveals a comprehensive picture of Hezbollah’s organizational and leadership structure, hierarchy, and key figures. The website’s timeline documents the most significant military and political milestones in the development of the terrorist group over its nearly 40-year history.
