Chinese Surveillance Company Tiandy Supplying The IRGC

Businesses Associated With Tiandy Must Renounce Relationship Or Risk Violating Sanctions

(New York, N.Y.) – A major Chinese surveillance and closed-circuit TV technology company with close ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leadership, Tiandy Technologies Co. Ltd., has recently been reported as supplying the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) with technology and spyware. The IRGC, designated by the U.S. as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, is known to surveil and harass ethnic minorities and political opponents, to exert domination over the media landscape and increasingly, to tighten the regime’s control over cyberspace. Its role in surveillance and Internet censorship has expanded considerably over the last decade – progress which Tiandy is accelerating.

A recent report implicated Tiandy in “providing Iran with advanced spy technology that helps the hardline regime in Tehran crack down on pro-democracy protesters who in recent weeks have taken to the streets,” based on research by IPVM, a U.S.-based security and surveillance industry research group. Despite this, a number of multinational corporations continue to foster symbiotic business relationships with the CCP-aligned surveillance equipment company.

In correspondences sent earlier this month, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) sent inquiries to global business leaders including Amazon and Intel, as well as security and technology companies Infinity Electronics and Seagate Technology, about their relationships with Tiandy. Each of the above-named firms serves as sales platforms, partners or users of Tiandy technology and equipment.

So, too, do Canadian companies Anabon Security and CanadianTek. Both provide a full suite of Tiandy-associated products and “solutions” including network cameras, recorders, software, to assist in facial recognition, “earlywarning” (sic), IP technology and panoramic monitoring, among other objectives and distribute technologies, respectively. UANI has not received a response regarding the nature of any of the partnerships and business relationships thus far.
