The Anniversaries Of Twin Bombings Remain A Reminder Of Iran’s Terrorist Reach
(New York, N.Y.) — July 18 marks the anniversaries of two deadly bombings — the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish Cultural Center in Buenos Aires and the 2012 bombing of a passenger bus carrying Israeli tourists at the Burgas Airport in Bulgaria — ordered by Iran through its proxy U.S. designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), Hezbollah.
This year’s anniversary comes after Argentinian and Paraguayan authorities recently grounded a plane carrying 14 Venezuelans and five Iranians outside of Buenos Aires to investigate if the crew is connected to terrorist groups, specifically links to the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC). The plane in question is operated by Emtrasur, and was transferred to Emtrasur by Mahan Air, which is sanctioned by the U.S. for aiding in the IRGC’s terrorist activities.

Furthermore, UANI’s new resource Asghar Mir-Hejazi: The Supreme Leader’s Enforcer highlights the role that Asghar Mir-Hejazi, one of the most influential actors in the Iranian system who flies below the radar of most Western media coverage, played in the AMIA Jewish center attack. Mir-Hejazi participated in the deliberations leading up to the bombing itself as a member of the Committee for Special Operations. He has been the intelligence and security advisor to Iran’s supreme leader since 1989.
