Description:

Between 2012 and 2013, Bukey conspired with Amanallah Paidar, an Iranian national, to procure and export U.S. technology to Iran through their companies, Farazan Industrial Engineering in Iran and Ozon Spor Ve Hobbi Ürünleri in Turkey. The items in question included a device to test fuel cells and an attempted acquisition of a bio-detection system with potential applications in weapons of mass destruction.

Bukey was arrested in Spain and extradited to the United States in July 2022. He pleaded guilty to conspiring to violate the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) in December 2022. In March 2023, he was sentenced to 28 months in prison, with credit for time served, and will be removed from the United States upon completing his sentence.
