What Are Iran Sanctions, and How Will Tehran Try to Evade Them?
BBC
"Western political figures and campaign leaders, such as United Against Nuclear Iran, claim that Iran uses 'shadow ships' to secretly transport its oil abroad. It is reported that these are ships registered under countries that obscure ownership information to prevent their identities from being known. Additionally, it is said that they turn off their communication devices while at sea to conceal their routes. Iran does not accept that it uses “shadow ships”’ but it has not denied it either. Iranian media have referred to these ships as a “sanctions nightmare.”"
