Panama to Remove 128 Sanctioned Vessels from Its Registry After Pressure from the U.S.
Centroamérica360
The Panamanian Maritime Authority (AMP) will remove at least 128 vessels from its naval registry, all of them sanctioned by the United States or its allies for participating in the Iranian and Russian oil trade. The decision comes after an intense international pressure campaign, driven by the Donald Trump administration and organizations such as United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI). The United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) political group estimates that at least 96 of the 510 vessels identified on its Iranian “Ghost Armada” list are registered in Panama, representing 18% of the total.
