Execution of Imam Khomeini's Order (EIKO)

Person/Entity:
Entity
Sanctioned:
No
Background:

According to the U.S. Treasury Department, "EIKO is a business juggernaut under the direct supervision of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei that has a stake in nearly every sector of the Iranian economy, including energy, telecommunications, and financial services. EIKO has systematically violated the rights of dissidents by confiscating land and property from opponents of the regime, including political opponents, religious minorities, and exiled Iranians, while, according to its leader Mohammad Mokhber, being tasked by the Supreme Leader to implement a 'resistance economy.'"1

EIKO has not been sanctioned pursuant to human rights sanctions laws, executive orders, or regulations. The U.S. Treasury Department has sanctioned EIKO under Executive Order (EO) 13599, which blocks the Iranian government's property, and EO 13876, which "targets the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iranian Supreme Leader’s Office (SLO), as well as their affiliates."2
