UANI Statement on the Creation of a Special Purpose Vehicle to Facilitate Trade With Iran

“INSTEX” Will Enable European Nations to Evade U.S. Sanctions in Place Against Iran

(New York, NY) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) President David Ibsen today released the following statement regarding the European Union’s (EU) creation of “INSTEX”, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to facilitate trade with Iran:

“The European Union has decided to ignore the security of its own citizens by empowering a dangerous regime, which is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. European leaders have vowed to act against Iran’s violence on the continent’s soil and its continued financing of terrorist organizations around the globe. This SPV proves their rhetoric is hollow and rewards Iran for acting with impunity.

“Allowing trade with Iran will only increase the regime’s capacity to finance terrorism in Europe and globally. Rather than building stability, it will allow the regime to regain its footing on the pathway to becoming a nuclear power. This SPV puts citizens in Europe and around the world at much greater risk.”
