UANI Statement Applauding Arrests And Indictments Against Regime-Backed Criminals Targeting American Activist

(New York, N.Y.) United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following statement today following the U.S. Department of Justice unsealing indictments against individuals alleged to have participated in a murder-for-hire plot orchestrated by the Iranian regime against Masih Alinejad.

“We applaud the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) for their unyielding effort to protect Americans from the Iranian regime and to arrest and prosecute all those responsible for plotting against us. Their work is essential to our safety.

“Tehran was not dissuaded from targeting Masih Alinejad on U.S. soil even after a separate plot to kidnap her was disrupted and exposed in July 2021. The individuals most recently arrested and charged surveilled her and arrived at her home in New York armed with weapons to assassinate her. And yet, despite this, Masih has refused to be silent, and we commend her for her bravery and commitment to human rights in Iran.

“The threat to individuals standing up to Tehran is rising, and it is essential that leaders in the United States and Europe recognize that the regime is ready, willing, and able to act with brutality not only against its own people and within its borders, but against any critic anywhere. There must be a decisive policy response, beyond a statement, indictment, and future sanctions. The Iranian regime is a criminal enterprise. It cannot be trusted. It cannot act in good faith. And it cannot be allowed to continue with its malign behavior.”
