UANI Reveals Iranian Regime Clerics and Entities Inciting the Crucifixion and Assassination of President Trump
UANI Calls for Sanctions, Law Enforcement Proceedings, and Immigration Reviews
(New York, NY) — United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) is identifying Iranian regime clerics and entities responsible for issuing and amplifying fatwas advocating for the torture and assassination of U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and other political leaders. These religious decrees—issued under the Islamic penal code status of mohareb (waging war against God)—call not only for death but also for brutal methods of torture including crucifixion and cross-amputation.
These actions represent clear incitement to violence against U.S. and allied officials and constitute grounds for designation as Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT) under Executive Order 13224. UANI calls on the United States and its allies to immediately impose such sanctions on the individuals and entities listed here.
UANI Chairman Governor Jeb Bush and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace said, in a joint statement: "Today UANI is exposing the individuals and entities in Iran hiding behind religion to foment terrorism abroad. Threats against the president of the United States and other Americans are a federal crime. Each of these individuals and entities should be sanctioned, indicted, and banned from travel—along with their families—to the United States and allied countries. The last fatwa against another American citizen, Salman Rushdie, almost cost him his life, with him being stabbed by an Iranian regime sympathizer. It is time to ensure that those who threaten Americans face the full force of the law."
While multiple Iranian clerics are implicated, UANI highlights the following three individuals as top sanctions targets due to the gravity, scope, and organizational influence of their incitement:
Abdolmajid Kharghani—Amplifying a Fundraising Campaign to Kill President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu
Abdolmajid Kharghani, a hardline cleric and Quranic studies expert, was the first individual to publicly reveal the existence of a fund—launched via an online platform—dedicated to collecting money for the assassination of President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu. In a broadcast on Iran’s State TV, Kharghani claimed that the killings could be achieved in European countries with $10–20 million. Following his remarks, a website—THAAR.IR—was launched to crowdsource funding for the assassinations. The site reportedly claims to have raised more than $20 million. Kharghani should be sanctioned as an SDGT under Executive Order 13224.
Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi—Fatwa Calling for Torture and Execution
Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts known as the “Sultan of Sugar” due to his illicit profiteering in Iran’s sugar market, issued a fatwa explicitly calling for the assassination and crucifixion of President Trump, Prime Minister Netanyahu, and others. Under sharia law, all those labeled as mohareb must be tortured to death, including through crucifixion and cross-amputation. This fatwa is a direct incitement to assassinate the president of the United States and other Western leaders. Makarem-Shirazi should be sanctioned as an SDGT under Executive Order 13224.
Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani—Antisemitic Incitement and Call for Execution
Ayatollah Hossein Nouri Hamedani, a disciple of Ayatollah Khomeini and his former representative in Europe, has long espoused virulent antisemitism, declaring that “one should fight the Jews and vanquish them.” He has also accused Jews of hoarding global wealth and enslaving the West. Hamedani issued a fatwa calling for the assassination and crucifixion of President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, invoking the Islamic penal code classification of mohareb. The fatwa advocates for torture prior to execution, including crucifixion and cross-amputation. This represents incitement to acts of international terrorism. Hamedani should be sanctioned as an SDGT under Executive Order 13224.
UANI also recommends counterterrorism sanctions for two organizations, the Qom Seminary and Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting—the national broadcaster of the Iranian regime—both of which undertake actions in support of the fatwas.
