UANI Releases Iran’s Version of the “Art of the Deal” Report
(New York, NY) – As the U.S. and Iran continue their nuclear talks, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) is today releasing a report revealing ten negotiating tactics Iran’s regime employs against Western diplomats. These are derived from direct accounts from individuals who have firsthand experience in negotiating and dealing with Iranian officials, native Iranian policy experts, as well as from observations from veteran Iran watchers.
For decades, Iranian negotiators have refined a strategy designed not to find compromise, but to manipulate, stall, and extract concessions. These are not tactics of goodwill or mutual understanding — they are calculated moves rooted in ideology, misdirection, and an overwhelming desire to weaken the West.
Fox News has reported exclusively on UANI’s report today.
The ten Iranian negotiating tactics include:
- Deception: The Grass Can Be Greener, promising vague future rewards to keep talks alive without offering anything concrete.
- Good Cop, Bad Cop, exploiting the illusion of political pluralism in Iran—use “moderates” vs. “hardliners” to extract concessions, even though all power lies with the Supreme Leader.
- The Promise of Lucrative Post-Sanctions Business Opportunities, dangling phantom investment deals to lure Western governments and companies—then pull the rug.
- Fanciful Alarmist Threats, issuing exaggerated threats to stir anti-war sentiment and paralyze tough policymaking in the U.S.
- The Art of Ambiguity, resisting clear commitments; relying on vague language to allow deniability while still benefiting from deals.
- Running Down the Clock and Cosmetic Concessions, engaging in endless, exhausting talks to delay action, offering superficial gestures to avoid real consequences.
- A Post-Colonial Victimization Narrative, invoking historical grievances to justify current behavior and shifting blame onto the West.
- Divide and Conquer, causing and exploiting rifts within Western alliances—between the U.S. and Europe and between the U.S. and Israel.
- Baazari Mentality and Taarof, using bazaar-style haggling tactics—start high, concede slow, cloak intentions in false politeness.
- Influence and Information Operations, leaking selectively, spinning the media narrative, polarizing U.S. policymaking, and influencing U.S. public perceptions of Iran.
