UANI Mourns the Death of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham
(New York, NY) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman Governor Jeb Bush and UANI CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following statement on the death of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC):
“UANI is saddened by the sudden death of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. Senator Graham was a friend of UANI and a national leader on Iran policy. When Senator Joe Lieberman was chairman of UANI, he remained close with Senator Graham. Together, with Senator John McCain, they were known as the ‘three amigos.’
“Senator Graham was known for his support for the Iranian people. In Iran, he was affectionately called ‘Amoo Lindsey’ or ‘Uncle Lindsey.’ He was one of the original authors of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act (INARA) and led the way to preserve congressional oversight of U.S. Iran policy. He understood the true malign nature of the Iranian regime.
“Senator Graham demonstrated a willingness to reach across the aisle to get things done, which is all too rare these days. Senator Graham’s humor was also legendary. UANI will miss Senator Graham and sends its condolences to his family, friends, and staff.”
