UANI Applauds UN Nuclear Watchdog Resolution Against Iran and President Trump’s Policy of Zero Enrichment

Iran reveals its true intentions – the pursuit of a nuclear weapon

UANI calls for the full reimposition of maximum pressure and the readying of military action as Iran approaches nuclear breakout

(New York, NY) – Today, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman Governor Jeb Bush and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following statement applauding the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors’ censure resolution against Iran, and calling for the full reimposition of the maximum pressure campaign in response to Iran’s defiant pursuit of nuclear weapons and the readying of military action as the Iranian regime approaches nuclear breakout.

“We applaud the IAEA Board of Governors for this extraordinary action that rightly recognizes Iran is in clear violation of its non-proliferation obligations.  The significance of this resolution against Iran’s non-compliance – the first of its kind for 20-years – cannot be overstated. Today’s resolution is a clear recognition of the Iranian regime’s pariah status and quest for nuclear weapons – a quest that has remained unchanged more than two decades on from the Ahmadinejad era.

“As we applaud the IAEA’s action, today, Iran revealed unequivocally the military dimensions of its nuclear program. Iran’s announcement today that it has built a third undisclosed nuclear enrichment site and that it plans to “significantly increase uranium enrichment” is a clear statement of its pursuit of a nuclear weapon. There is no legitimate civilian nuclear energy purpose to any of Iran’s enrichment programs, and the covert nature of Iran’s facilities underscores its true intent. There can be no serious debate on the legitimacy of Iran’s nuclear program – Iran’s intention is to acquire a nuclear weapon.

“Today’s nuclear escalation on the part of the Iranian regime only further underscores the legitimacy of President Trump’s demand for zero enrichment. We wholeheartedly applaud President Trump for his steadfast policy of zero enrichment.

“In light of the UN nuclear watchdog’s resolution underscoring Iran’s nuclear non-compliance, it is now critical for all nations to follow and adopt the Trump administration’s maximum pressure policy against the Iranian regime. Maximum pressure should not only be adopted—it must be enforced, not least against Iran’s illicit oil sales through its Ghost Fleet. Since its establishment in 2008, UANI has advocated for—and helped craft—a policy of maximum pressure against Iran’s regime. Today, we stand ready to support the Trump administration and our allies around the world in achieving this goal. And as the regime in Iran approaches nuclear breakout, the United States and its allies must maintain force readiness to launch necessary strikes against its nuclear facilities.”
