UANI Applauds President Trump for New Sanctions Targeting Iran’s Illicit Oil Trade

(New York, NY) – Today, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following statement after the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the State Department imposed a new round of sanctions targeting Iran’s illicit oil trade:

“UANI commends President Trump and his administration for taking decisive and coordinated action against Iran’s vast network of illicit petroleum facilitators. Today’s sanctions represent the first time the U.S. government has designated a Chinese teapot refinery Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical Co., Ltd. This will further constrain the space Iran’s regime and its Chinese partners will have to defy U.S. sanctions.

“Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical Co., Ltd. appeared on UANI’s list of Chinese purchasers of Iranian oil. UANI is also proud that every single vessel in today’s action was previously listed on UANI’s ‘Ghost Fleet’ list, underscoring our commitment to tracking Iran’s deceptive shipping practices and its global illicit trade operations.

“The regime’s shadow fleet of tankers, including those transporting crude to China’s teapot refineries, remains one of the primary enablers of Iran’s malign activities. Today’s actions send a clear message to those complicit in evading sanctions: The U.S. will not tolerate such efforts and will act to deprive Tehran of revenue to fund its destabilizing practices.”
