UANI Applauds President Trump and His Administration for New U.S. Sanctions on Funding Network for Iran’s Armed Forces
(New York, NY) – Today United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman Governor Jeb Bush and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following statement applauding President Trump and his administration’s sanctioning of a network of front companies and shipping facilitators bankrolling the Iranian regime’s Armed Forces by selling crude oil:
“UANI applauds President Trump and the U.S. Departments of State and Treasury for sanctioning this latest tranche of individuals, entities, and vessels which are funding the Iranian regime’s Armed Forces through the illicit sale of crude oil. In last week’s designations, the U.S. government sanctioned seven vessels which first appeared on UANI’s Ghost Armada list and that UANI recommended for sanctions: PIONEER SAM, TUSITALA, NEXO, AL SIDDEQ, AQUARIS, AVA 10, and BODHI.
“Additionally, UANI applauds the Trump administration’s sanctions on a Mahan Air network resourcing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization. Iran has long misused civilian aircraft to support its terrorism and regional aggression.
“While Iran’s nuclear enrichment program has been set back dramatically, these sanctions are critical to countering the regime’s efforts at rebuilding it after the 12-Day War. With the reimposition of U.N. snapback sanctions this fall, the Trump administration and its allies should act to ensure all the vessels on UANI’s Ghost Armada list are sanctioned and hold evaders of these sanctions accountable.”
