UANI Applauds Biden Administration’s Deployment Of The BATAAN Amphibious Readiness Group In Response To Iranian Aggression
UANI Calls For DOD To Issue And Abide By Clear And Decisive Rules Of Engagement Against Iranian Military Action. IRGC Navy Commander On Notice That Further Military Hostilities Will Lead To A Decisive U.S. Response.
(New York, N.Y.) — United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) applauds the Biden administration’s deployment of the BATAAN Amphibious Readiness Group to the Arabian Gulf region. As Iranian hostility increases against U.S. maritime interests in the Arabian Gulf, yesterday UANI called for enhanced deterrence against such threats. Our release crossed the wires minutes before the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) announced that it had ordered the deployment of portions of the BATAAN Amphibious Readiness Group. The BATAAN Readiness Group joins the deployment of the destroyer U.S.S. Thomas Hudner and additional F-16 and F-35 fighter planes announced on July 7.
UANI CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following statement on the DoD’s announcement:
“We applaud the Biden administration and the U.S. Department of Defense for deploying the BATAAN Amphibious Readiness Group to the USCENTCOM area of responsibility in response to the Iranian regime’s military threats and actions against the U.S. and its commercial interests in the region. This deployment, in addition to the destroyers and advanced aircraft that the U.S. has surged to the Middle East, represents an important step in strengthening U.S. deterrence against an increasingly belligerent Iran.
“But more must be done. To ensure deterrence, the U.S. must issue and abide by clear and decisive rules of engagement to counter Iran’s military hostilities. Iran must not be allowed to board, harass, or attack any vessels in the Gulf without a decisive U.S. military response. The U.S. must make clear that any Iranian attempts to militarily interfere with the U.S.’ lawful enforcement of sanctions will be met with military action against Iran, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Navy. Absent such clear rules of engagement and decisive action, Iran’s hostile military activities will continue leading to more bloodshed and potentially escalation. Moreover, absent such a clear message from the U.S., the ability to enforce sanctions will be impaired.
“And lest there be any doubt the U.S. is responding to Iranian aggression by the IRGC’s Navy and its commander Alireza Tangsiri – Rear Admiral Tangsiri you are on notice: Any escalations and further bloodshed is blood on your hands. Continued IRGC hostilities against the U.S., its interests, and its allies and partners in the region will lead to a decisive and lethal U.S. response against your men and assets.”
