UANI Announces Launch of Peoria Billboard Calling on Caterpillar to End Business in Iran

New York, NYUnited Against Nuclear Iran (UANI)  today  announced the launch of a billboard in Peoria, Illinois located near Caterpillar's corporate headquarters.  The billboard calls on Caterpillar to end its business in Iran.  The billboard faces southbound toward downtown Peoria is located at 3400 NE Adams Street, Peoria, IL 61603.

The billboard reads "Today's Work, Tomorrow's Nuclear Iran?" and features images of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Caterpillar equipment.  Click here to view the billboard.

Caterpillar's subsidiary, Lovat, carries out tunneling projects in Iran, and the Tehran-based Arya Machinery markets itself as the sole distributor of Caterpillar equipment in Iran.  Because of Caterpillar's presence in Iran, UANI is deeply concerned by the misuse of Caterpillar equipment by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran's LNG and Oil industry and for boring the tunnels that are necessary to hide and protect Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities.

Speaking about UANI's billboard campaign, UANI President Ambassador Mark D. Wallace said:

Caterpillar's sales of heavy equipment in Iran provide a crucial element to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.  The IRGC dominates Iran's LNG and Oil industry and controls Iran's nuclear program.  Caterpillar's short term profit motive cannot be used as an excuse to support a regime that is a danger to global security.  We call on Caterpillar to immediately end all of its business in Iran.
