MEDIA ADVISORY: United Against Nuclear Iran Urges Financial Action Task Force Vigilance on Iran in Open Letter
New York, NY - United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) released today an open letter signed by high-ranking former government officials and policy experts on the occasion of the Financial Action Task Force's (FATF) plenary meeting in Busan, Korea, from June 18-24. As FATF members meet to discuss combatting threats to the international financial system, UANI and its supporters remind the organization of Iran's money laundering, terrorist financing, and the threat that it poses to global markets.
The letter urges the FATF to set strong and clear countermeasures against Iran's destabilizing aggression. Signatories include: former United States Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, former United Nations Ambassador Mark Wallace, former Special Assistant to President Obama Ambassador Dennis Ross, former Acting Director and Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency Michael Morell, former U.S. Homeland Security Advisor Frances F. Townsend, former Chief of the Mossad Tamir Pardo, former Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi, former Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski, Executive Director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies Mark Dubowitz, and CEO of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs Dr. Michael Makovsky.
