ICYMI: UANI, Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski, and Rt. Hon. Tom Tugendhat MP Unveil Iranian Shahed Drone in UK Parliament
(London, UK)—Last Tuesday, United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) unveiled an Iranian Shahed-136 drone in the British House of Commons. For more than three years, the Shahed-136 drone has proven critical to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine. UANI’s display was the first ever public showcasing of a Shahed drone in Europe. The drone was acquired by UANI from the Ukraine-Russia war zone to spotlight the Iranian regime’s support for Putin’s indiscriminate violence in Ukraine.

This event, hosted in the Speaker’s House with the support of UANI Senior Adviser Rt Hon Tom Tugendhat MP, brought together senior United Kingdom parliamentarians, diplomats, experts, and journalists to highlight the growing threat from the Iran-Russia military alliance and address the drone threat to European security. The event follows similar high-profile unveilings of the Shahed drone by UANI in the United States Congress and in front of United Nations member states in New York earlier this year.

A Historic Warning from Westminster
At the unveiling, keynote speaker Radek Sikorski, foreign minister of Poland, said: “Our alliances have proven solid, as confirmed by the fact that several allies, including Britain, rallied around us and sent additional Patriots, NASAMS, Typhoons, Rafales, and F-35s to face the threat if it should happen again. Remember it was 21 [drones fired] at Poland. But Ukraine faces 600–800 barrages of these per night.”
Rt Hon Tom Tugendhat MP, former UK minister of state for security and UANI senior advisor, said: “It is a great pleasure for me to be here introducing, in the Speaker's House, in this home of democracy and freedom, a weapons system that has been designed by Iran and the dictators there, fired by Russia and the dictators there against Ukraine and the heroes there.”
Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, CEO of UANI, said: “This is the V1 Buzzbomb of the day, and it is striking not just Ukraine, but it is being used and deployed against our NATO allies in Europe as they test our strength. . . . The courageous people of the United Kingdom bore the brunt of a little over 6000 buzzbombs in 1944 and 1945. It is a brutal coincidence that Iran has sold some 6000 of these Shahed-136 drones to Russia to strike against Ukraine.”
Eduard Fesko, deputy chief of mission at the Ukrainian embassy in the UK, said: “The war in Ukraine is raging on. The country is subject to regular massive aerial attacks. Things like this Shahed drone continue to terrorise Ukrainian citizens. They first appeared on the battlefield in 2022 in single numbers. Now, they are being used in their hundreds against cities and civilian infrastructure.”
The comments deeply resonated with the policy makers in attendance, many of whom underscored the importance of confronting the Iranian regime’s proliferation of drones and missiles that now threaten the European continent.

Shahed Drone Display at Portcullis House
Following its unveiling in the House of Commons, the Shahed-136 drone remains on display in Portcullis House until Wednesday, October 22, giving members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, as well as visitors, the chance to see firsthand how Iran manufactures its drones, exports its malign influence beyond the Middle East, and supports Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine.
