UANI Statement on President Pezeshkian’s U.N. Speech

(New York, NY) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following statement today reacting to Iranian regime President Masoud Pezeshkian’s speech at the opening of the United Nations General Assembly:

“UANI applauds the Trump administration and the U.S. Mission to the U.N. for the U.S. delegation’s walkout in protest of President Pezeshkian’s remarks today. Earlier this month, UANI called on the U.S. government to do just that.

“Today, Pezeshkian ludicrously sought to recast Iran’s longstanding role as a global bully and make it into a victim. He held up a photo of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, whose hands were stained by the blood of too many Iranians, Arabs, Israelis, Americans, and others to count. He complained that Hamas Political Chief Ismael Haniyeh was assassinated while visiting Tehran for former President Ebrahim Raisi’s funeral. This is the same Haniyeh who oversaw an internationally sanctioned terrorist organization responsible for the worst massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust.

“Pezeshkian accused Israel of genocide, when the Islamic Republic calls for the eradication of another U.N. member state. Representatives of America and its allies should hold up photos of the many victims of the Iranian regime’s bloody wars, massacres, purges, and executions since 1979.

“While Pezeshkian preaches dialogue and diplomacy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) plots terror in American and European cities and rapes, maims, and murders Iranians. Pezeshkian is president in name only. It is the mafia-like IRGC which runs the country and is bent on perpetual conflict.

“The regime has proven itself irredeemable. Instead of being afforded red-carpet treatment at the United Nations, it should finally be treated like the outcast it is.”
