UANI Leadership Sends Letter to U.S. Lawmakers Endorsing the U.S.S. Joseph I. Lieberman
Governor Jeb Bush and Ambassador Mark D. Wallace Release Letter to U.S. Lawmakers Supporting the Naming of a Virginia-Class SSN-817 Submarine after Senator Lieberman
(New York, NY) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman Governor Jeb Bush and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace today released a letter to U.S. lawmakers endorsing the naming of a Virginia-class U.S. naval submarine after the late UANI Chairman former U.S. Senator Joseph I. Lieberman. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal has offered an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2027 expressing the sense of Congress that the SSN-817 be named the U.S.S. Joseph I. Lieberman.
As Governor Bush and Ambassador Wallace wrote in their letter, naming the Virginia-class submarine after Senator Lieberman would be fitting as it “would embody a great man, a great American, and a true patriot.”
They also noted “Senator Lieberman was…one of America’s greatest advocates for tolerance and interfaith cooperation. He was a leading voice against the scourge of antisemitism. The U.S.S. Joseph I. Lieberman would be an enduring symbol of his legacy and that antisemitism must not stand in America or anywhere else.”
As a U.S. senator and later chairman of UANI, Senator Lieberman spent his career countering the threats posed by the Iranian regime, the leading state-sponsor of antisemitism and terrorism worldwide.
