The United States is imposing visa restrictions on 18 Iranian officials and telecommunications industry leaders, the State Department said on Wednesday, in the latest such move against Tehran. At the end of January, the State Department confirmed that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had banned senior Iranian officials and their relatives from being in the US. At the time, no details were provided on who would be affected or when the new measure would take effect. Jason Brodsky, policy director of United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), commented that this was an important step that UANI has “long advocated for.”
