Hacking & Cybersecurity Risk

Doing business in Iran will inevitably lead to the hacking and theft by Iranian operatives and security agents of proprietary information, trade secrets, confidential employee and corporate information, personal information, and customer information.

As further evidence of Iran’s dangerous and illegal cyberwarfare activity, on March 24, 2016, the U.S. Department of Justice charged seven Iranians linked to the government of Iran of launching cyberattacks against the U.S. financial sector and critical infrastructure, including a dam outside of New York City.

Hacking and cyberwarfare actions are grave risks for corporations which have a notable presence in the U.S. when the Iranian Supreme Leader is warning of Western “infiltration” and giving a green light to the IRGC to take aggressive action against representatives deemed to be agents of Western cultural and economic influence.
