Background:

First deputy chief justice (2021–present). Formerly served as "a deputy of the Judicial Organization of the Armed Forces; first deputy attorney general; deputy chief justice for legal affairs; deputy prosecutor of the Special Court for Clergy; and... head of the judiciary’s Administrative Court of Justice".1

Tried to cover up the reality that the government had sentenced a woman, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, to be stoned to death by stoning by falsly claiming to the U.N. Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination that “her case is still being processed and nothing is yet decided." He also told the committee that she had been convicted of murder as well, although Mohammadi Ashtiani accused the "authorities of concocting the murder conviction solely to deflect international outrage. Mohammadi Ashtiani was eventually released from prison after her sentence was reduced from stoning to a term in jail".2
