UANI to Unveil Iranian Terror Weapon at the Munich Security Conference
UANI CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace and UANI Special Advisor, Rt Hon Tom Tugendhat MP, will provide a briefing alongside Radek Sikorski, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and present a downed Iranian Shahed-136 drone at the Munich Security Conference to highlight the escalating threat posed by Iran’s drone proliferation.
(New York, N.Y.) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) will unveil a downed Iranian Shahed-136 drone—the weapon that has become central to Russia’s war against Ukraine and its wider assault on European security—that it recently acquired, at the Munich Security Conference, in a briefing that will focus on how to counter the Iran-Russia military partnership in Ukraine.
The briefing will provide world leaders, policymakers, experts, and the media with a stark reminder of the destructive power of the Islamic Republic’s Shahed-136; Russia’s aggression in Ukraine; the central role of the Iranian regime in facilitating Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine; and the urgent need to strengthen Europe’s drone defenses and disrupt the illicit funding sustaining Iranian and Russian drone programs.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is the primary military backer of Russia’s war in Ukraine, and its Shahed-136 drone has become a weapon used to inflict indiscriminate violence against Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure. Russia launched more than 54,000 Iranian Shahed drones and their variants at Ukraine in 2025—including over 5,000 in September alone. These weapons have killed civilians, destroyed energy infrastructure, and terrorized towns and cities.
Following drone incursions into Poland and other NATO member states, the threat posed by Iranian Shahed drones and their Russian variants is no longer confined to Ukraine but represents a direct challenge to European security. The escalation comes as senior Iranian officials have issued threats to target European cities with drones.
Governor Jeb Bush, Chairman of UANI, said:
“The Iran-Russia military partnership represents a direct and growing threat to European and global security. The international community must act with urgency to disrupt Iran’s aggression, cut off the regime’s illicit funding networks, and impose meaningful costs on those who enable this dangerous alliance. Confronting Iran’s destabilizing activities is essential to protecting our shared security.”
Ambassador Mark D. Wallace, CEO of UANI and Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, said:
“The Shahed-136 is today’s V-1 buzz bomb, terrorizing Ukrainian cities and testing NATO’s resolve across Europe. This weapon is the true face of the Iranian regime—and just one way Tehran wages war beyond its borders. Iran’s drone warfare is not a distant conflict—it is a direct assault on our shared security and must be confronted.”
The briefing will examine the lethal nature of the Shahed-136 drone, Russia’s war against Ukraine and broader European security, Iran’s role in facilitating Putin’s war, the global threat posed by Iranian drone proliferation, and the urgent need to build Europe’s drone defenses and target the sources of illicit funding behind Iranian and Russian drone programs.
Attendees will have the opportunity to see, film, photograph, and examine the drone firsthand. The briefing will feature keynote remarks and a Q&A.
The display follows similar unveilings by UANI of the Shahed drone it acquired in the UK Parliament, U.S. Congress, and at the United Nations.
UANI extends its sincere thanks to the Republic of Poland, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski, as well as to Ukraine and President Volodymyr Zelensky, for their invaluable assistance in UANI’s acquisition of the Shahed-136 drone and its exfiltration from Ukraine
The event will take place at 11.30 CET, on Friday, February 13th.
