Biography

Kamran (Yehuda) Hekmati is a Jewish Iranian-American jeweler who is in his seventies. His LinkedIn profilestates he is the director and CEO of Van Gogh Couture and CEO and president of Kamico, Inc. His profile also lists a bachelor’s degree in business and philosophy from Baruch College and an unspecified degree in comparative religion, philosophy, and religious studies from New York University.

 

Arrest

The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported on July 28, 2025, that Hekmati is one of two Iranian-American Jews taken hostage by the regime on suspicion of committing espionage for Israel. According to human rights groups and Hekmati’s family and friends, as reported by the New York Times, the regime is questioning Hekmari about a past trip to Israel. According to the Hengaw human rights organization, Hekmati and his companion apparently had traveled to Iran to visit a relative. HRANA also reported that Hekmati is being held in an intelligence ministry facility in Tehran.
