In April 2016, ChelPipe began “applying for participation in tenders and undergoing product certification for supplies to Iran, after international trading sanctions on the country.” (Steel First, “Russia's ChelPipe looking for ways in to Iran market,” 4/27/2016).
We also note ChelPipe’s attendance at the 21st Iran Oil Show in Tehran on May 5, 2016. (ChelPipe website, “ChelPipe Group Participates in the International Iran Oil Show in Tehran,” 6/5/2016).
In June 2015, discussing the possibility that the U.S. and European sanctions against Iran might be lifted, a ChelPipe official said, “[i]f events develop under this scenario, ChelPipe will restore the amount of supplies to this country to the pre-sanctions level.” (Prime Business News Agency, “Russia’s ChelPipe to restore exports to Iran if sanctions lifted,” 4/6/2015).
Furthermore, ChelPipe “will restore the volumes of exports Iran, which traditionally stood at 30,000 tonnes, once the E.U. and the U.S. lift sanctions.” (Id.).
