UANI Statement on Iran Regime Antisemitic Terror Attacks in Australia
(New York, NY) – United Against Nuclear Iran Chairman Governor Jeb Bush and CEO Ambassador Mark Wallace released the following statement after Australia’s government found Iran’s regime responsible for antisemitic terror attacks on Australian soil.
“UANI condemns the terror plots by the Iranian regime against synagogues and Jewish businesses in Australia that its government exposed this week. This underscores that Iran’s regime is not only the leading state-sponsor of terrorism, but that it is also the foremost state-sponsor of antisemitism globally.
“Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese today took strong steps against Iran’s regime in response to these heinous crimes. They include declaring Iran’s ambassador to Australia persona non grata and beginning the process of listing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. UANI has long called for governments around the world to proscribe the IRGC as a terrorist organization. This is long overdue. Australia will soon join the United States and Canada in declaring the IRGC the terrorist organization that it is.
“The IRGC is the most antisemitic armed Islamist organization in the world. These terror attacks in Australia are not only terrorism, but they are also acts of war against Australia. Sanctions alone will not deter the IRGC from plotting terror abroad. Canberra should consider covert and military responses against IRGC installations on Iranian soil that formulated these plots to restore deterrence. As the United States under President Trump’s leadership has demonstrated, sanctions must be backed by a credible military threat – this is the only way to deter the Ayatollah.
“The U.S. government should rally Australia’s allies and partners around the world to diplomatically isolate Iran’s regime and declare the IRGC as a terrorist organization under their own national authorities. These U.S. allies and partners should also come together to establish a credible military threat against the IRGC to restore collective deterrence against the Ayatollah as these terror plots have impacted many countries around the world. For too long, the Iranian regime’s terrorism and transnational repression have gone unanswered. It’s time the IRGC faced both sanctions and a credible military response to its continuous acts of terror. This calls for a coordinated international response.”
