UANI Resources: 31st Anniversary of Ayatollah Rohullah Khomeini’s Death

(New York, N.Y.) – June 3 marks the 31st anniversary of the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Khomeini was such a singular figure that the U.S. government assessed the Islamic Revolution would not have taken place without him. His legacy lives on through Khomeinism, which is an ideology and system of governance that has fostered revolution and repression at home and abroad.

United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI)’s new resource, Khomeinism, outlines its distinctive and destructive features. It also analyzes the differences between the supreme leaderships of Khomeini and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. UANI’s report, How Iran Exports Its Ideology, focuses on the global networks the regime uses to spread Khomeinism. Lastly, as June 4 is also the 31st anniversary of Khamenei’s designation as supreme leader, UANI has documented the succession process as well as the likely contenders in Who Will Be Iran’s Next Supreme Leader?.
