UANI Statement on Israel’s Strike Killing Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah

(New York, NY) United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) Chairman Governor Jeb Bush and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace issued the following statement today on Israel’s airstrike which killed Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah on Friday:

On October 8, barely 24 hours after Hamas invaded Israel and committed acts of unspeakable barbarism against thousands of men, women and children, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah applauded the massacre and declared war on Israel. In the following 11 months and in solidarity with Hamas, his Iran-backed terrorist organization fired thousands of missiles from its Lebanese stronghold into Israel.

“As an original founder and key architect of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah established his legacy over decades as a terrorist murderer, with copious American blood—and the blood of countless innocents around the world—on his hands.

“His death and those of many of his most senior Hezbollah commanders over recent weeks may prove pivotal—even transformational. It may indeed herald the moment that Hezbollah’s malign and murderous role across the region finally comes to a close. As the Iranian regime’s avarice, corruption, duplicity, and weakness are exposed, its so-called “Axis of Resistance” is likewise revealed as a cynical propaganda device designed to grow legions of cannon fodder to kill and die in service to Tehran.  The regime, whose fundamental interests lie in maintaining its own power through brutal dominion over the people of Iran, has sat comfortably in Tehran financing and directing its proxies for too long, while ordinary Lebanese, Iraqis, Palestinians, Syrians, and Yemenis have suffered as a direct consequence of its foreign mis-adventurism.

“To fully accomplish the dismantlement of Hezbollah, the United States, Europe, and our Arab partners must act now to create the conditions for Lebanon’s rise. The Lebanese people have long been held hostage by Hezbollah. In particular, the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), financed by the U.S. government and other Western countries, now has an opportunity to stand up and reclaim its country as a force for moderation. We stand with Israel and the oppressed people of Lebanon and Iran.”
