Premiere of New Documentary on UANI’s Role in the U.S. Seizure of the Suez Rajan to Coincide with UNGA

(New York, NY) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) will host the premiere of a new documentary produced by Iran International TV, focusing on the illicit shipping of Iranian oil and the events leading to the U.S. seizure of the Suez Rajan vessel in 2023. The screening will be held in New York during the opening of the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA), coinciding with the speech by the Iranian regime’s new president.

The film highlights UANI’s extensive efforts in tracking illicit activities through the use of satellite imagery and data, leading to a landmark U.S. Department of Justice criminal resolution involving the Suez Rajan oil tanker. It provides an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the intricate process of sanctions evasion, UANI’s pivotal role in the vessel’s seizure, and the global consequences of Iran’s actions.

The documentary reveals how Iran evades U.S. sanctions by utilizing a fleet of “ghost ships” to illegally transport oil, generating revenue for the regime. These funds fuel Iran’s destabilizing global activities, including its support for terrorist groups and proxy forces throughout the Middle East, like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. By circumventing sanctions, Iran undermines international efforts to curtail its nuclear ambitions and its financial backing of groups that threaten regional and global stability.

The screening – part of a short series of activities that UANI will lead during UNGA – will include a panel discussion with key experts involved in the case following the documentary presentation.

It will take place on: Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Park Avenue Screening Room (500 Park Avenue, New York, NY).

To attend the event, RSVP is required (details below), and space is limited.
