UANI Calls For Kinetic Response To IRGC’s Maritime Aggression

(New York, N.Y.) — United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace and Chairman Senator Joseph I. Lieberman issued the following joint statement today following a series of attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its proxies and partners.

“We applaud the United States deploying advanced naval assets to the Middle East to protect shipping in the Persian Gulf and the wider U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. Yet protecting these vessels is not deterring the IRGC and its militia network. When the IRGC is successfully threatening two of the most significant choke points in the world and directing attacks, hostage taking, and piracy, deterrence must be restored. The United States and its allies must target the IRGC, especially its navy, militarily.

“The Houthis in Yemen must also be held accountable. The IRGC arms and funds them and they cannot be allowed to hold international waterways hostage using terrorism.

“Employing a maritime task force is necessary but not sufficient to restore deterrence. The United States has spearheaded a series of task forces, including the International Maritime Security Construct, for years. Yet the attacks by the IRGC and its allies continue. The only way to change its calculus is through force.”
