“An Indonesian company is exploring a plan with an Iranian partner to build an oil refinery in Java as the two nations are seeking to boost trade and investment ties after an easing of global economic sanctions on Tehran. PT Kreasindo Resources Indonesia on Tuesday signed a preliminary agreement with Iran's Nakhle Barani Pardis Co. to build the refinery, which will require around $3 billion in investment, either in Banten Province or another location in West Java, said Rudy Radjab, the president of the Indonesian company. Mr. Radjab said the two companies would decide later this year if they will proceed with the plan. Kreasindo plans to hold a 70% stake in the project, which in its initial stage would be able to produce 150,000 barrels a day of crude. Nakhle would hold the remaining 30% and also help supply the crude-oil feedstock. ‘We signed an agreement with Nakhle to supply between 20,000 and 300,000 barrels a day of crude from Iran as we could expand the capacity of the planned refinery to up to 300,000 barrels a day in the future,’ Mr. Radjab told The Wall Street Journal…Indonesia has been inviting investors to build refineries in the country to meet rising domestic demand as a result of robust growth in the past five years. State-owned PT Pertamina currently operates seven refineries across the country, with total capacity of one million barrels a day, or about two thirds of domestic consumption. But its efforts haven't been fruitful, as investors have asked for various tax breaks that the government couldn't provide.” (Wall Street Journal, “Indonesian, Iranian Companies Look to Build Oil Refinery,”  2/11/14)

"Indonesia’s government decided last month to freeze Pertamina’s deal to operate the Mansouri oil field in Iran because it wanted to preserve the country’s “good relationship” with the United States, Pertamina’s Acting Chief Executive Nicke Widyawati said on Tuesday. “We have a good relationship with the United States, and so, it is on hold,” Widyawati told Reuters, adding that the decision came after consultations between Indonesia’s presidency, energy and mines ministry, and Pertamina." "Indonesian state energy company Pertamina is considering placing its contract with Iran to operate the Mansouri oilfield on hold because of the threat of U.S. sanctions, director Syamsu Alam told reporters on Friday. The United States plans to reintroduce sanctions against Iran after abandoning a deal reached in late 2015 that limited Tehran’s nuclear ambitions in exchange for the removal of U.S. and European sanctions. Pertamina said in March that it had won the tender to operate Iran’s Mansouri field with 80 percent participating interest. On Friday Alam said that Pertamina would not be able to continue with the contract if there were sanctions from the United States or any other country, adding that sanctions could also create financing problems because the company might seek loans from U.S. banks." "Indonesia’s state-run oil and gas company Pertamina sees cooperation with Iran as a priority for its activities in the region, Junizar Harman Dipodiwirjo, a field manager at Pertamina, said in an exclusive interview with the Tehran Times.

The interview was conducted on Monday in the 23nd International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition of Iran (Iran Oil Show 2018), which kicked off on Sunday and will wrap up on Wednesday at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds.

Harman, who was attending Iran Oil Show for the first time, said: “It’s the first time that I am attending Iran Oil Show. It’s very large with a very large number of exhibitors and companies attending.”" (May 8, 2018).

"The Iranian government has set a deadline of early May for Indonesia’s state-owned energy giant Pertamina to seal the deal for developing Iran’s Mansouri oil field. Pertamina claims it has secured the Iranian government’s nod to be the operator of the Mansouri field, in which the company is expected to control an 80 percent interest, while the rest will be owned by an Iranian partner. However, Pertamina upstream director Syamsu Alam said his side was still looking for partners to jointly develop the field, as it would be too risky to control the 80 percent interest alone. “We want to seal this deal as soon as possible, but we need to find partners first,” Syamsu said Wednesday." State energy company Pertamina [PERTM.UL] may sign a deal to import Iranian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in 2017 when Indonesia's president visits the country this week, company officials said on Tuesday. The LPG imports may total up to 528,000 tonnes during next year, the officials said. "It is highly likely we will import again from the National Iranian Oil Company," Pertamina spokeswoman Wianda Pusponegoro told reporters, adding that Pertamina planned to import up to 12 cargoes, each of which contains 44,000 tonnes of gas, in 2017. A deal could be signed this week during Indonesian President Joko Widodo's trip to Iran, she said. The planned purchases are part of 600,000 tonnes of LPG that Pertamina tentatively agreed to purchase in May from state-owned National Iranian Oil Co (NIOC) this year and in 2017. Pertamina is also considering buying stakes in two oil and gas blocks in Iran and had met and discussed the matter with Iran's oil minister during the recent Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries meeting in Vienna, Pusponegoro said.(Reuters, "Indonesia's Pertamina may sign deal with Iran for 2017 LGP imports," 12/13/2016).

"State-run energy giant Pertamina officially received a cargo of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Iran on Thursday, marking Iran’s first shipment as a new supplier of LPG to Indonesia. Pertamina president director Dwi Soetjipto welcomed the 44,000 metric tons of LPG transported from Asaluyeh Port in Iran 13 days ago by its VLGC Pertamina Gas 2 vessel, at Kalbut Port in Situbondo, East Java. According to him, the LNG shipment from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) would open up other business development opportunities between Pertamina and the NIOC, in both the upstream and downstream sectors. "It marks a new chapter of cooperation between Pertamina and the NIOC and makes trade cooperation between Indonesia and Iran more significant," Dwi said in a statement on Thursday... In addition to the LPG purchase, the two state-run companies signed an agreement to conduct a preliminary study of two giant oil fields in Iran, namely Ab-Teymour and Mansouri, which have an oil reserve of more than 5 billion barrels."
