UANI Demands Iran’s Regime Release Toomaj Salehi

(New York, NY) – United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI)’s CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace released the following statement today after the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judiciary issued a death sentence for Toomaj Salehi, a beloved Iranian rapper:

“UANI condemns the Islamic Republic of Iran’s death sentence that was issued against prominent Iranian rapper Toomaj Salehi. Toomaj, through his music, has been the voice of the people of Iran. This is why the Iranian regime fears him and is trying to silence him. But he, like millions of other Iranians, will not be silenced.

“The United States and its allies must continue demanding the immediate release of Toomaj and all other political prisoners from the Islamic Republic’s jails. But demands alone will not suffice—Toomaj's life is at risk. U.S. allies in Europe should immediately impose consequences on Tehran by expelling Iranian regime diplomats from their capitals. This course of action should be followed up with a clear ultimatum to the Islamic Republic demanding Toomaj's release or else face full diplomatic isolation, including the closure of its embassies and cutting off all diplomatic ties. This regime only understands the language of force—and now is the time to make it clear that there will be severe consequences for its actions.”
