"Ras Al Khaimah-based RAK Ceramics has said it wants to expand its manufacturing operations in Iran. According to a report from The National, the Abu Dhabi-listed company fully acquired its Iranian business last August, which was financed by the World Bank when it started in 2003. Nour Eldeen Sherif, an equity analyst at Cairo’s MubasherTrade, said: “Iranian operations are on hold until the company can provide financing facilities for its plant in Iran, but the banks are too shy to deal with the banking sector there. “Once this issue is handled, we expect operations to gradually recover as the Iranian ceramics market is huge and promising.”" (August 9, 2016).

"UAE-based RAK Ceramics, one of the world's largest makers of ceramic goods, said on Wednesday it had fully acquired its subsidiary in Iran, the latest investor seeking opportunities after Tehran's nuclear deal. As a close neighbour to Iran, the UAE stands to be a major beneficiary of closer trade relations once sanctions against the Islamic Republic are lifted as part of the July 14 deal with big powers mandating limits on its disputed nuclear activity. RAK Ceramics, which has a distribution network covering around 160 countries, said in a statement it had 'a long term vision for the Iranian market both domestically and as an export centre in Central Asia as the sanctions regime gets lifted'." "Matthias Uhl, managing director of Riedhammer GmbH, a maker of industrial furnaces in Bavaria, said that his firm was once again exploring possible contracts in Iran, which used to be one of the firm’s top 15 markets. Under the sanctions regime, the company was restricted to supplying spare parts for existing furnaces, a negligible source of business. Earlier this year, a Riedhammer sales executive visited Tehran and checked in with former customers. 'The old connections are still working, I have to say,' said Mr. Uhl. 'They are just waiting for us to come and begin again.' Not all the news was good: In the intervening years Chinese suppliers have begun selling industrial furnaces to Iran at lower prices. But overall Mr. Uhl sounded optimistic. The visit by Mr. Gabriel was 'a clear political signal that now we want to go forward together again and find solutions for the open problems that we have.'" "'We are ready,' Johan Molin, president and CEO of Assa Abloy, told the TT news agency. 'Among other things, we’re bought a company in Dubai that we think should be able to export safety doors to Iran.' The company has strengthened its operations in the Middle East and on the same day the nuclear deal was reached, held a conference around the question 'when are we moving in?'" “As Iran’s 19th annual International Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Exhibition drew to an end in Tehran last week, it was hailed as a success by both organizers and participants alike. Though none of the European or American oil giants had taken part, there was a tripling of participation by foreign companies from countries such as Germany, Spain, Canada and Japan as well as the Chinese…At the moment, Western firms can at the most do only limited business with Iran due to sanctions, but those that took part in the Tehran expo say they are positioning themselves for the possibility that things might change. ‘Focusing on the Iranian market is very important for us because we think with the new government in Iran, the sanctions are near the end,’ said Juan Vicente Ortiz, a head engineer of Prematecnica, a Spanish firm which produces gas flares.” (Time, “Foreign Companies Strike Hopeful Note at Iranian Oil Fair,” 5/15/14)
