Applauds KPMG For Ending Its Business in Iran
New York, NY - United Against Nuclear Iran
(UANI) applauds KPMG for its decision to
end its business in Iran.
UANI, on March 12, 2010, called
on KPMG to end it business dealings in Iran. KPMG, on April
1, 2010, in a
letter to UANI, announced that it would sever its business ties in
Iran.
Responding to the decision, UANI President Ambassador Mark D. Wallace
said
"We applaud KPMG's decision. KPMG is a world expert in
business
risk. KPMG deemed its own business in Iran as too risky to
continue. If doing business in Iran is too risky for KPMG,
then such
business is clearly too risky for all responsible businesses. No longer
will
irresponsible companies operating in Iran be able to secure a KPMG
audit of
that business."
UANI maintains on its website the Iran Business Registry
(IBR), a list of companies that have been reported to do business in
Iran.
UANI has effectively pressured
companies such as General Electric, Huntsman, Siemens, Caterpillar, and
Ingersoll Rand to end their business in Iran.
